“In mid‑October 2025 I was in Jamaica for work when a sudden hurricane forced us to become “the Stuck” – we couldn’t leave the island for days. Just before Thanksgiving 2025 I woke to a remote server at 100 % CPU, killed the Docker container, and unintentionally took all my sites offline. After a snow‑storm stranded me in New England, I finally made it home, installed new Michelin Pilot Sport P4 tires and a Borla Touring exhaust on my Mustang, and am now gearing up for 2026.
An interesting Q4
So mid-October 2025 I visited Jamaica for a work trip, I got to meet some of my co-workers and link back up with others. It was a good time until the trip was suppose to end, we got word early in the week that a Hurricane was looming and our positive vibes weren't enough to push it out of our way. Forecasts were all wrong and the storm came directly over me and "the stuck". We called ourselves the stuck because we could not find a way out of jamaica by that point. It took days after the storm hit us before a few of us were able to make it out. Boy was I happy to finally get back home after that trip!
Just before the Thanksgiving 2025 holiday break, I woke up to a sluggish remote‑server connection. A quick glance showed every service pegged at 100 % CPU. In a sleep‑deprived panic I killed the Docker container. This eased my utilization issues, but my bigger mistake was that all my sites and apps were down since I took down docker, rookie mistake.
I had decided to spin up a server with parts I had, it's a beefy consumer grade home built server. I plan on rebuilding the original server once I migrate all the good stuff off of it. I'll probably split the load, apps on the new server, websites go back on the original server.
To make things even more interesting, I had lined up a trip to go to new england to spend Thanksgiving with my family. It was great to see everyone that I was able to see. I was able to create a children's learning website with my niece, check it out at amiekids.com and my sister scored a couple of tickets to the Giants vs Patriots Monday Night game, which was an absolute blast! I did get stuck in New England due to a snow storm, but again, I was able to make it out and so happy to be back home.
It's now toward the end of my Holiday/New Year vacation. Work is in the back of my mind and I'm excited to start the year off, but I'm also excited to be home and spending some time cleaning up some of my projects. Outside of tech/web projects, I finally got some new rubber on my mustang - Michelin Pilot Sport P4 and I added some Borla Touring Exhaust system to help reduce the drone and overall noise. It definitely sounds quieter, almost stock, which I don't hate.

Looking Ahead to 2026
Well my plate is pretty full with personal projects, hobbies and my day to day job, but I have a solid work-life balance and things seem to flow pretty easily. I plan to focus using an optimizing the platforms I've created so far, and in terms of hobbies, I want to learn how to brew beer along with all my other hobbies, which I'm sure I'll post about.
